Our Services

Care that comes to you, across Florida

Help-Us Help-U is a Florida nonprofit that provides and coordinates medical, testing, recovery, behavioral health, dental, pharmacy, and housing support for people who need care and have not been able to get it. Our own licensed providers see you at our locations and on our mobile units, and where a service is better delivered by a partner, your care coordinator arranges it and stays with you until it happens. One call connects you to the right team, and no one is turned away because they cannot pay or do not have insurance.

Call 855-UnifyFL (864-3935) or (727) 826-0958, or email info@helpushelpuinc.org.

Our services

Primary Care

Our providers see you for the everyday and the ongoing: checkups, screenings, common illnesses, and long-term conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. If you have not seen a doctor in a while, this is a good place to start, and your care coordinator will help you get to any specialist you need.

What to expect

  • Wellness visits and health screenings
  • Care for diabetes, high blood pressure, and other ongoing conditions
  • Treatment for common illnesses and infections
  • Prescriptions sent to the pharmacy of your choice, or filled through our own
  • Referrals and follow-up handled by our care coordinators

HIV, Hepatitis C, and STI Testing, Treatment, and Prevention

Getting tested is simple, private, and quick, and you do not need a reason. We test for HIV, hepatitis C, and sexually transmitted infections at our locations and on our mobile units, and if a result needs attention we connect you to treatment right away. We also connect you to prevention, including medicine that keeps you from getting HIV.

What to expect

  • Rapid HIV, hepatitis C, and syphilis testing, with results explained to you in person
  • Testing and treatment for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and other sexually transmitted infections
  • Same-team linkage to HIV and hepatitis C treatment, so no one waits alone with a result
  • HIV prevention with PrEP, and PEP after a possible exposure
  • Confidential care at every step, with no one turned away for inability to pay

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Recovery from opioid or alcohol use is medical care. Our licensed providers prescribe and manage medication, our pharmacy team keeps the medication in reach, and your care coordinator arranges counseling and peer support with partner programs and follows up to make sure it happens. There is no judgment here, only a plan.

What to expect

  • Same-week starts and a plan for the days between visits
  • Counseling and peer support arranged with partner programs and followed up by your coordinator
  • Coordination with recovery residences and treatment programs
  • Help if you have run out of medication or are between providers

Behavioral Health

Anxiety, depression, stress, grief, and the weight of everything else are real medical needs. We connect you to partner counselors and behavioral health providers who see adults in person and by video, your care coordinator sets the first appointment, and we coordinate with your medical and recovery care so nothing falls through the cracks.

What to expect

  • Counseling arranged with a partner provider who stays with you
  • Medication evaluation and management when it is part of your care
  • Support for people in recovery and their families
  • Video visits when getting to a location is hard

Dental Care

Our dental clinic at 5400 School Road, New Port Richey, provides exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and the kind of urgent care that cannot wait. Dental pain gets in the way of everything else, and we want it handled. Call (727) 997-0167 or the toll-free line to schedule.

What to expect

  • Exams, cleanings, and x-rays
  • Fillings, extractions, and treatment for pain and infection
  • Referrals for specialty dental care

Pharmacy and Medication Support

Medication only works if you can get it and keep taking it. Our pharmacy team fills prescriptions, and our care coordinators handle refills and prior authorizations and make sure a change in providers or housing does not become a gap in treatment.

What to expect

  • Prescription filling and refills coordinated with your care team
  • Medication delivery
  • Help with insurance, prior authorizations, and cost
  • Support for HIV, hepatitis C, MAT, and behavioral health medications

Housing and Supportive Services

Health does not hold up without a safe place to sleep. We coordinate with recovery residences, shelters, and housing programs, and our Perinatal Bridge Placement program in St. Petersburg supports people who are pregnant or newly parenting and need a stable place to land.

What to expect

  • Referral and placement coordination with housing and recovery residence partners
  • Perinatal Bridge Placement, now open in St. Petersburg
  • Transportation help to appointments where available
  • A care coordinator who follows your case from the first call

Getting Started

How to start

1

Call 855-UnifyFL (864-3935) or (727) 826-0958. A live representative takes your information any time, including evenings and weekends.

2

A care coordinator calls you back, usually by the next business day, to talk through what you need and set an appointment at a location or with the mobile unit.

3

Bring what you have. No insurance, no identification, or no fixed address does not stop you from being seen.

4

Your care team builds a plan with you, and your coordinator keeps it moving between visits.

Insurance and cost

We accept Medicaid and Medicare, and the list of other plans we accept is available by phone. If you have no insurance, we will still see you. Many of our testing and prevention services are provided at no cost through public health partnerships, and a sliding fee is available for other services. Call us and we will explain your options before your first visit.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need insurance to be seen?

No. Call us and we will explain what is available to you at no cost and what a sliding fee would look like for other services.

Is testing confidential?

Yes. Your results are shared only with you, by our clinical team, and your information is protected under federal and Florida law. Nothing about the reason for your call is left in a voicemail or told to anyone else.

Can I start MAT quickly?

Yes. Tell the representative when you call, and if you are out of medication or in withdrawal, the record is marked urgent so the clinical team reaches you the same day.

What if I do not have a phone that works reliably?

Give us every way to reach you, including a case worker, a program, or a friend. We will only say that Help-Us Help-U called and ask you to call us back.

Where are your locations?

We have sites in Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsborough, Manatee, Duval, Levy, and Highlands counties, plus mobile units. Your care coordinator will match you with the closest one.
